The Senior Accounting Analyst is responsible for the ownership of all accounting, reporting and analytics around Fixed Assets, Maintenance and IT. This position will work closely with the Accounting/Finance team along with all levels of management throughout the organization to ensure timely and accurate reporting of information for the areas of support.

This person will primarily have direct responsibility for the accounting, reporting and analysis of the following activities:  all acquisitions, disposals, sales and turn-ins of owned and leased revenue equipment; maintenance shop expenses including the ownership of monthly shop P&L's; capital expenditures; owned and leased properties including property tax returns and other reporting; budgeting and forecasting for the areas of accountability.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills with the self-motivation to dig into systems and details to uncover and resolve issues while constantly looking for ways to improve processes.


In addition, this role is responsible to support business improvement by meeting personal and departmental goals and objectives timely and effectively.



 Day-to-day responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ownership and primary resource for all fixed asset related transactions including the administration of the company capital expenditure policy.
  • Provide a constant, high level of accounting and finance support for the areas of Maintenance and IT while maintaining the responsibility for recording acquisitions, disposals, sales, trade-ins and gain/loss for revenue equipment along with the timely and accurate processing of related titles and licenses.
  • Accounting and reporting for all costs associated with Maintenance shops including warranty recovery, inventory, parts and supplies.
  • Completion of month end close tasks for areas of responsibility such as preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, P&L reporting, variance analysis and cost center review meetings.
  • Responsible for the management of FAS and ensuring the timely and accurate entry of all fixed asset transactions and updates in the system.
  • Provide necessary documentation and support for audits and other activities that may arise periodically.
  • Provide forecast and budget support for the areas of ownership.
  • Prepare monthly sales tax returns and annual property tax returns.
  • Prepare sales tax exemption certificates as required. 

Note: These are the major functions and accountabilities required of the position and are the predominant criteria by which performance will be assessed. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • 5-8 years of applied experience. Experience with transportation accounting a plus.
  • Familiar with the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel with experience in FAS and Great Plains Dynamics accounting software a plus.
  • Experience providing support to others throughout the organization.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills - ability to work effectively with teams and other departments.
  • Excellent analytical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to work with financial information to produce timely and accurate results.
  • Self motivated, organized and demonstrated high standard of personal responsibility.
