For this critical role, we are seeking strong leaders who are results-driven and thrive on making significant decisions to impact Transport America's operations. The Director of Fleet Operations position will provide you with great opportunities to make an immediate impact on our business through your achievements. In addition, this role is responsible to support business improvement by meeting personal and departmental goals and objectives timely and effectively.


    • Lead, develop, and mentor approximately 300 Drivers and 20 operations personnel
    • Meet or exceed company metrics relating to safety, low cost and turnover/retention
    • Attract and retain the best talent in the industry (drivers & operations personnel)
    • Develop Strong Freight Network by working with sales/pricing/customer service to define One-Way Needs and Capacity
    • Sit on senior leadership team to drive strategic and tactical initiatives as well as drive top and bottom line results
    • Develop strategies and initiatives that ensure efficient utilization of equipment
    • Create CI Initiatives to improve processes, training, and help control costs
    • Oversee day to day operations

 Note: These are the major functions and accountabilities required of the position and are the predominant criteria by which performance will be assessed. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.



    • Bachelor's degree in business, transportation, or related field required.
    • 7-10 years experience in leading a fleet operation with progressively increasing role of responsibility.
    • Over-the-road truckload carrier experience required, preferably with dry vans.
    • Ability to formulate, communicate and execute strategy.
    • Strong leadership, coaching, mentorship and people development skills required.
    • Must be able to articulate thoughts, ideas and concerns and communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals.
    • Ability to make decisions with good judgment.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment with multiple priorities.
    • Ability to analyze problems is attentive to detail and be a team player.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
